We are still hanging in there, no baby as of yet. I am just sitting around waiting till Tues. I guess. My grandma wouldn't let me drive them to the dr. today because I might go into labor she said. I feel like an outcast-haha. No one wants to be around me in case I go into labor. No one wants that on "their watch" and get stuck with my two-year olds! It was a messy day anyway, so it was nice to stay in. I've been very grouchy today for some reason. I'm not even sure why. Well, I have my theories. One is that the house is a wreck. Toys are everywhere. I just have no energy to pick them up. My mom suggested I pay my little sister to pick them up. I had contemplated that, but then they'd just get scattered again in 5 minutes. I know it's just 5 more days....but sheesh. You can't walk in this house without stepping on a toy and some of them hurt your feet! I am used to picking them up twice a day myself, but I just don't have the energy for all that bending. I do know that once we are at the hospital, I'm sure Mom will get the kids to pick up, and for some reason, they listen to her. Another reason for my dismal mood is the kids' behavior. They were just raunchy today. Everytime I told Carson "no", he'd have a complete meltdown. Like, throw yourself on the floor and cry like your heart is truly broken meltdown. Emmy had been more subtle with her misbehaviors. Yesterday we woke up and she was playing so nicely in her room, so I did a couple things real quick and in the 30 min. she was playing....I went in and what did I find? A winter wonderland of sorts....complete with a white, white Emmy. The brand new bottle of powder that was on the changing table, which is in a "child-proofed" closet, was everywhere. I do mean everywhere. You could not breathe in that room! It took me almost all day to clean it all up. All she had to say for herself was "I itchy Mommy". You think?
Today, she was again quiet, and I peeped in once to make sure nothing looked too out of place, then I took my medicine, did a couple things real quick.....and went in to find all of Carson's clothing all over the room. Yep, she got in the other "child proof" closet. I was lecturing her on being good, I told her "Emmy you need to be a good girl." She replied to me, "What's that?". Sigh.....that's our Emmy. She's so full of mischief, you can't help but not be mad at her for long though. Yesterday when I was scolding her for the whole powder incident, she started whispering back to me, as if to say "Lower your voice Mommy". That girl is definitely my challenge. People say boys are rambunctious and all, but after Emmy, I think one girl is enough and I'll keep the boys coming! She will keep them in line for sure!
So tonight we made a trip to the store to get MORE locks for the closets....we'll see how they hold up. I have to say, it's never, ever a dull moment in this house. The positive was, we got quesadillas for supper! Or, as Emmy calls them "K-dias". She eats a whole order herself, then Carson eats like 2 triangles. They were yum.....not as yum as last night's dinner though.
We went to eat with our friends Mary, Clyde, and their 3 year old, Addison. It was nice to eat a homecooked meal since that is a rarity around our house right now. Well, the kids were again, totally unruly. They actually ate a bit, which surprised me because they don't normally eat when there's excitement or new stuff around. Of course dinner included several rounds of musical chairs, plates, cups, and escape attempts.....but it was as good as I would expect in a house full of "new to them" toys I supposed. The real fun began after supper when they were just crazy. They wanted to touch everything, go in every room, pick up glass items.....fret the dogs, anything to embarrass us, you name it. The only thing Emmy did not do was declare her butt "itchy" which she was doing that afternoon. It's from her eczema, but still. And it's truly not her butt, it's her back where the diaper hits the top....but anyway. Just so you don't think my child is weird or anything!
Carson was fairly good, except he wrote on the carpet with crayon, I think accidentally, and knocked over a set of glass candlesticks that luckily didn't break. I blame all this on Dustin, who plays very rough with them every evening. They get in the floor, wrestle, jump on stuff, he shows them how to ram their monster trucks into the doors.....all kinds of "boy" things. I think that's cause he's a kid deep down too! Anyway, for the next play date, I think we'll have to have them here. That way it won't hurt anything if they break something. I think poor Addison was in shock at all the commotion. She was laying it on thick too, which was cracking me up. She kept saying "look at all this mess in my house.", "I never pull out more than one toy at a time." and all kinds of other things that her parents said was NOT true!
For the twins' birthday, they gave Emmy a baby Ariel doll which she cuddled the whole way home and slept with. Cousin Morgan had gotten one for Christmas like it from Amanda and Emmy really took to it for some reason, so I'm glad she's got a Disney baby doll of her own now. Carson got a "tractor" which was a Toy Story truck that he of course sleeps with. He has so many "tractors" in his bed, it seems uncomfortable to me, but he HAS to have them. If you sneak one out, he knows. Silly boy.
Anyway, all three "kids" here are sleeping and I'm getting ready to head that way soon. Another day down.....several more to go. Chocolate milk is calling my name!!!! Let's hope tomorrow is calmer. Lots of good listening and obedience, especially since it's dance night. My last night of taking her for a bit....I've got grandparents lined up the first few weeks after the baby comes. I'm letting go of some of my control issues and allowing others to help!
