Since I talked about going to bed so late last night, I will share our new bedtime routine. We read at bedtime now, which we had not been doing for a while. I always read to the kids when they were infants in their bouncer seats, etc. Then they got mobile and no one wanted to sit for storytime. Now, the kids are really getting back into reading, and I am SO EXCITED! I LOVE to read, I always have. In fact, I have to cut myself off from reading at times. Right now, I haven't read a book for fun in over a month. I just get too wrapped up in them and stay up almost all night reading. The twins now choose which books they want me to read and we read, and read, and read, and read.....I know htey know it's also a delay tactic. They do enjoy the stories though, and it's been neat to see them read them back to us. The hands-down favorite right now is "Chicka, Chicka, Boom Boom!". It is a really cute alphabet book. We read it at least 4 times a night. Emilynn and Carson both read it. Last night Emmy saw the "Q" in there and said, "Mommy, it looks sort of like a zero." I was pretty impressed. Sometimes they say stuff and we don't even know where they've learned it. We were alos looking at our bug book and she declared- "those ants are marching east.". O-kay. I am really, really glad they are so very observant! Carson is a quiet observer. He notices things like tractors and truck/car colors, etc. He knows what everyone drives and what type of tractor our neighbor has.
Anyway, I'm thrilled the children are so eager to learn and are such little sponges. I can't wait until we can read chapter books at night. Little House on the Prarie will absolutely be the first ones we read! I love them and have read them many, many times!
