Random thoughts and observations.....

  • I love Thanksgiving week....it's nice to just have a holiday to visit and eat.  :-)
  • I have more cooking to do this week than I originally thought- mac & cheese for my Nanny's wed night, a pumpkin roll for Dustin's grandma's Thurs., nothing for my Dad's (thanks Meme!) Thurs. night, green beans & pumpkin roll for Dustin's Dad's family Sat. night.
  • Dustin decided he wants to have his birthday supper Sunday night here at our house instead of at my grandma's.  Sounds like a good idea.....but what do I feed everyone?  I think I'll do two crock pots of chili, 1 crock of navy beans, cornbread muffins, crackers, and I have to figure out something for the kids to eat.  My kids will eat navy beans, but I don't know about the other kids.  Maybe chicken tenders?
  • Someone peed in the toybox.  Yes, you read that right.  Sigh.....I discovered this today.  Dustin thought it was funny.  Me, not so much.....since I had to bleach it AND all the toys inside to be safe.  Oh that potty training.....I will not let it get to me.   This was almost as interesting as the day I found a terd on the floor, yet everyone had a diaper on.  Perplexing.....
  • I went and did my gestational diabetes test yesterday.  Glad to get that done before my next appointment on Friday.  Yes, I was cutting it close.
  • I have about 12 weeks left in my pregnancy-boy time flies!!!  I have some things left to do around here....I'd better get a move on!  I am more tired each day, I can tell I'm slowing down.  I am determined to be ready for this baby......I have to finish his room!   I was feeling great and had tons of energy to chase the kids and run around outdoors with them.  Now, I'm really able to tell I'm more tired and less able to do those things.
  • I hope to make freezer meals for after the baby is born.  Guess I'd better fit that in somewhere between Christmas and the birthday party.
  • The kids are getting more conversational every day.  It's really neat and kind of strange at the same time.   Last night Emilynn said "Da-da"....."Da-da".  Dustin finally answered and she said "High-five."  She wanted a high five.  Interesting.....I often wonder what's going on in those little precious heads.  They do and say the cutest things.  Carson is on this kick of saying "happy, happy, joy, joy".  I have no idea where it came from.  It's cute though.
  • Friday night is the grand illumination at the park.  I guess we'll join the maddness this year.  The kids would really like it I think.  I'm getting used to the idea of doing things like that that we would not normally do, since the kids will enjoy it.  I think we'll do the Christmas parade this year too, it's Friday in two weeks I think.  I have lots of things I want to do with them to celebrate the season, which is another reason I shop early so I can spend December enjoying church events and celebrating the REAL meaning of Christmas.  Last year the only thing we really did was this drive-thru Christmas story at a church nearby.  It was amazing, and we'll do that again.  I am glad we can add a bit more and there are things in our small community the kids can enjoy this year.
