8 years ago today, I married the love of my life. We were so young, so happy, so in love. I must say, where have 8 years gone? It feels like yesterday. I remember the nerves, walking down the aisle with my Dad. I remember how much I loved my wedding gown, I thought it was the prettiest one I'd ever seen...I still think that! I felt like such a princess on my wedding day. I still look at my gown sometimes in my closet! I didn't get it boxed up because I wanted to be able to look at it when I wanted to. It had some champagne in it and was cream colored and so ME. I wanted something different and unique and it was. I remember how excited I was to start out in our new house, so excited to have found such a wonderful person to share my life with. I know it sounds cliche, but we really are more in love today than we were then. Dustin is my very best friend, and I didn't appreciate it at the time, but I am SO thankful for the five years we had without children. It really helped prepare us for the years with children, when some days feel like you don't even get to speak to each other. Our relationship is solid and strong for having had that time, and as always-God knows best and knows what we need! Some things haven't changed a bit in 8 years-we still do goofy things all the time to make each other laugh. We seriously act like big kids most of the time. We are more grounded with children, but we do still act like college kids at times and pile the kids up in the car for a late night ride to Walmart or just around. Our favorite hobby is to ride the country roads, talking, singing. If we have something serious to discuss, we always ride. It's just easier for some reason for us to solve the world's problems while riding looking at farms, deer, etc. We've passed that on to the kids because they love it too. Anyway, if someone had told me 8 years ago I'd have 3 kids under 3, I'd of probably laughed. I could have never imagined my life as it is now, and I could never imagine it any other way, with anyone else. Dustin is the best and I'm so lucky! He still leaves me love notes all the time and is always appreciative of everything I do for him. He never fails to thank me for a great supper, for washing his clothes, etc. etc. Nothing goes unnoticed and he likes to give me breaks when he's off so I can have time for myself, and helps me clean, etc. when he gets home. He's a great example for our sons and a great person, so loving, giving, and kind. He doesn't like recognition for things, but I'm constantly amazed at his giving spirit. He always puts others first and I'm always learning to be a better Christian from him. I have never been more proud of him than when he came home one day and told me he had given his coat to a homeless man who needed it. And he thought I'd be mad because I had bought it for him for our first Christmas. I was so proud and that's just one example of the many things he does that he doesn't like people to know about. I truly believe our children will learn to have a servant's heart by watching their father. I am a blessed wife and mother. You know they say time flies when you're having fun! :-) Here's to 8 years!

A Bloggy Break
Well, I took a week off from blogging, apparently. I didn't intend to, it just worked out that way. Dustin was on call last week, so he worked every night and I tell you, I was exhausted each night from having the kids sun-up to sundown by myself. It had been hard because the kids were REALLY missing Daddy. On the worst day, Carson stood in the middle of the yard screaming and crying for him as he left. It broke my heart. I tried to keep the kids busy swimming (when it wasn't storming) and doing other things to distract them. They were SO glad to spend time with him over the weekend.
Actually, he and I went on a "date" Saturday for our anniversary. We spent the whole day together, my dad and step-mom had the kiddos. We had a delicious Olive Garden lunch, and did some shopping without distractions. Dustin's choice of store was Bass Pro Shop, mine was Hobby Lobby. It doesn't take much to make us happy! We had lots of laughs-it's nice that we enjoy each other's company so much (in my opinion). For instance, he may or may not have squealed tires going into the Wendy's drive-thru for a frosty. (Don't dare mention I told though!). It had been raining, in his defense. We were both so hysterical laughing he couldn't order. Of course I missed the kids the whole time we were gone.
We spent part of our day shopping for a Puddle Jumper for Carson. I don't know if you are familiar with these, but they are great for kids learning to swim. We found one for Emilynn at Target, and then checked two more Targets for one for Carson with no luck. Finally, Bass Pro had them. They are Coast Guard approved, so that made me feel better. Emilynn does really good with hers, she will go under and pop right back up. Carson is much more cautious but he is starting to swim like a fish too! Hunter has a big inflatable slide for his pool, so they were all going down that like crazy. It actually does look like a lot of fun! I may try it one day myself. :-) Carson kept saying, "I fimming Mama, I fimming." I love his pronunciations of words and he was SO proud of himself.
I canned some tomato sauce last week. It is still on my counter because I just like looking at it. I also took pictures of it, so I can post on here. Yes, I am strange sometimes! Canning makes me happy!
I have cut myself off from reading. Yes, you read that right. Even good things can be bad if you aren't careful, right? I am ashamed to admit I stayed up till 4 am one morning last week reading a book. I just returned a stack of about 12 books to my sister that I read way too fast. I have not been getting as much done around the house because I was anxious to read in bed, so I am taking a break from the Nora Roberts' novels. For now. I will still read my "educational" books-haha! I have two more novels waiting....so I'll probably start them in a few weeks.
I picked up the pictures of the kids' that I had done at Walmart today. They turned out so cute!
Henry is still sleeping in the cradle in our room. I have to say....it's really hard for me to let him go to his room. I didn't realize I was having a problem, until today. I have put it off and put it off moving him to his room. At first I hadn't put the monitor in there, so I had to do that. I did that a few days ago. Then the mobile batteries went dead. I changed them Saturday night after I got more batteries at the store. I thought we'd start this week with him in there, but today I realized there was another big problem. The door squeaks! Yep, it squeaks and that could wake him up when I check on him, so it needed to be oiled. I sprayed it with WD-40 tonight, but I wouldn't want to chance him smelling the fumes, so he's sleeping happily in the cradle beside me right now.
:-) Right where I want him to be!!! We'll see how tomorrow night goes!
Oh, and we went to TWO cowboy birthday parties for cousin Hunter. They were both a lot of fun. Amanda goes all out for parties. I put her in charge of games for our parties now, she really enjoys it. My kids both keep saying "I want to go to Hunter's cowboy". I think they think Amanda and Wayne have turned the place into a dude ranch or something. They had a hay ride, pinata, scavenger hunt, awesome party favors, swimming, a bounce house, I can't even remember what else. Then on his real birthday we had a campfire with hay to sit on and roast marshmallows and cook hotdogs, another pinata, silly string, lots of swimming, just lots of fun!
Well, I think that's all we've been doing lately.....I've caught you up on our past week!
More soon with pics!

Happy Birthday Hunter!
Today is Hunter's actual birthday! Four years ago today, I became an Aunt to my second nephew named Hunter. Yep, my only two nephews are both named Hunter! Only confusing some of the time. They are both special to me. Little Hunter as we call him around our house is now a big boy. Four years old and so mature. I see a little Amanda sometimes-he does love a party after all. He is very hospitable too, which cracks me up. He told me a few weeks ago, "Jesse, would you like some cantaloupe to take home?". He is just thoughtful like that and so cute in how he asks it.
I remember vividly four years ago like it was yesterday, driving to the hospital with my Dad. He fussed about my driving the whole way.....even though he taught me and he's kind of a.....we'll say "distracted" driver at times. Anyway, we saw Amanda for a while, then we waited. And waited. They told us to go get lunch while Amanda napped. Dad and I hit a Pizza Hut buffet, which was an experience in and of itself, and a story for another day. When we returned a short time later, Wayne came out and said "He's here." I swear, Wayne was almost stampeded at that point. He was the cutest little thing and we were all in love immediately! I remember going to see him almost every night, babysitting on every holiday I had from work, taking him to lunch every Saturday, just soaking him up! He's so big now and heading to pre-school in the fall and I am a bit sad at that. Where did the time go? That means my kids aren't far behind. But it's also a neat milestone, as I look forward to picking him up from pre-school when nobody else can, going to watch his little school programs, watching him in the Homecoming parade and May Day, and all the things that come with school. A new chapter, a new season of life. Amanda and I've been mothers to toddlers for a while now, and now that's changing and one of us has a pre-schooler. Weird. But okay....I'm starting to be okay with it.
So, Happy birthday to Hunter! I'm excited for all this new year will bring him, our little cowboy who loves his pet rabbits, his Aunts (especially Lys), Tom & Jerry, Thomas the Train, swimming, soccer, helping his Daddy in the yard, and all the stuff little boys love. It will be your best year yet!!!!
Love, Aunt Sissy (wait, he's big now so I'm no longer Aunt Sissy-sniff, sniff....I'm Jesse)

Funny....
The kids were playing on the porch-we have their Little Tikes tool bench and kitchen out there, and their water table, so we can play outside when it's raining without getting wet. Well, sort of....
anyway, I was at the sink and I hear Emilynn screaming. Carson comes running inside and is talking super-fast and saying something about "the cat's got Emmy, the cat's got Emmy". I'm thinking, okay, is she scratching her or what, because some serious screams were coming from the porch. I rush out there and Emilynn is backed up against the house, with Sunshine the cat standing there, with two dead mice between them. I'm sure Sunshine felt it was a great sign of her love and devotion to bring Emmy those two mice. However, Emmy did feel the same way. She was saying " Momma, I don't want 'em. I don't want 'em". I had to scoop her up, kick the mice off the porch till they could be dealt with......and calm her down. There's always something interesting going on at our place... :-) You just never know, and two days are never alike!

Happy Birthday Papa!
Today is Papa's birthday (Dustin's dad if you're new here). I won't share his age (cause I can't remember!), but we are having a special birthday lunch for him, and I know the kids will be so excited to celebrate-they love Papa. I have to say, he's a great Papa. He comes to see them just about every single days, calls if he can't come by, and is always willing to babysit. Now that the kids are bigger, Carson often goes with Papa to do farm chores, like feeding and checking the cows, gathering up hay, etc. He is very serious about this and if he knows Papa is coming, he gets his bag ready, his snack bag and cup, and puts his shoes and hat on. He waits by the door and heads out happily, with a kiss and a "bye Momma". I'm chopped liver when it comes to Papa. One lady at the church nursery was amazed that the twins could add and even do some subtracting. I told her it was from counting hay bales and cows with Papa, for sure! We do some counting at home, but they do a lot with Papa too! Anyway, we hope Papa enjoys his day and his special lunch with his grandkids. We are hoping to get a picture with all 7, which we haven't done yet.
Today is also Cousin Hunter's cowboy party. The twins have been talking about it for weeks. It must be the first party they really realize and are looking forward to, because they've wanted to go for weeks. Carson's carried the invite around (we need two Amanda!) and they've ooed and ahhed over the cake decorations. We even got cowboy hats at Hobby Lobby but they got ruined in the kiddie pool. :-( I warned them! I have made all of Hunter's birthday cakes- Winnie the Pooh for his first party, Lightning McQueen for his second, monster trucks for last year, and now cowboy. He keeps me challenged I guess! The rumor is we are having hayrides and of course, party games, and possibly some pool time! I think it's shaping up to be a fun day full of memories! I will post cake pics too-just for fun! I enjoy doing cakes for Hunter and my kids, but that's it. It's so time consuming! I hope to dress the kids in some type of cowboy gear-maybe bandannas at least.....and Henry has a baby cowboy hat-so cute!
Well, we are off to party all day! More later on how it's going!!!

Meltdowns Galore
Today was one of THOSE days. You know, when no one is happy and the simplest, silliest thing sets everyone into a tizzy. Today was also the day I did our once a year pictures. Well, I don't ever mean to do them once a year....but we get busy and lets face it, pictures are stressful. I told myself today, I was NOT going to let them be stressful. I purposefully made the appt. at my local Walmart....thus cutting out a 45 minute drive, some stress avoided right there. Then, I wasn't sweating the outfits, appearances, etc. God must have known how today was going to be, so he gave me such a positive outlook. We got up and my mom came to help, we set off to the store with no problems. Got there and no one wanted to put on their picture clothes. I am not above bribing....sometimes. Most of the time I just feel like, "you're gonna be good because you should." I don't do a treat every time we are in a store, I don't do bribes for haircuts, being good at church, things like that. I just don't believe in it. However, with pictures, I was willing to bribe a bit. So.....my mom told the kids they could have chewing gum if they were good. A HUGE treat. Carson even kept the gum in his pocket for the pics-what a big boy, right? :-) Emmy put her dress on, but did not want her hair done. Everyone was in the sandbox before we left, thus dirty feet/shoes....but I wasn't sweating it, remember? So, I said "hmmm. oh well". We headed in for the pics as we were. I did choose red, white, and blue as a color scheme this time and I was pleased. Emmy got a $5 dress from Walmart, I found Carson a white collared shirt for $2, and a pair of navy shorts for $1, all on clearance. :-) I do love a bargain. Henry wore a red and white romper my Granny's neighbor sewed for him. They all looked darling if I must say so myself. :-) Oh, and Carson wore a brown John Deere cap that was not coming off, sigh, without a huge meltdown. Let's face it, it's part of him....he loves tractors and especially John Deere, so I dealt with it. I got a great pic of all 3 kids. Great to me anyway, being as though last year when we did pics, we couldn't even get everyone on the same canvas for one pic! Emmy does have a funny look to her face because she had an attitude...which never happens. Not sure what the deal was with her. Anyway, mom took the kids to look around and Henry got a couple more pics taken. One is SO CUTE! He's sitting up (with me holding him out of sight) and laughing....he is truly the happiest baby ever! And it was captured perfectly. LOVE that boy!!! He also got one in his white dedication outfit. And he wore an outfit we got pics of Carson in...I'm sentimental like that!
Anyway, enough about pictures- we had a meltdown when Carson dropped the pack of gum on the floor. There was still gum in it, it just fell. A great reason for a total meltdown, don't you think? That boy has had a shriek on him since birth-which he fully used for the gum situation. In the store. Nice. Emilynn had a meltdown when her baseball cap fell over her eyes. Yep, you read that right. She could at any point grab the brim and raise it to see, but that would mean no meltdown. And meltdowns are fun, right? I really don't know what happened to my kids today, but it was like that all day long. For some reason, we decided to eat lunch with Amanda after the pictures, which went okay considering.
A nice, lovely older lady came over to see us and told me, "you have a beautiful family." As Emilynn was fussing, and she also said "we've all been there. And one day they are babies, the next they are having babies, and it's gone." Words of wisdom from a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. And something I needed to hear, a reminder.
I've never seen her before, and it was weird because when we walked in, she wanted to see the children, and Carson, my shy child, walked right up to her and hugged her. ???
Oh, and he took his hat off to eat, so cute!! You can tell Papa's been taking him out to eat a lot lately! What a gentlman! He also shuts the house door whenever we go anywhere for me, puts my purse and keys in the car....I just eat that boy up! He's what I call an "old soul". I really think he's just an old-fashioned type of boy. I don't like to make predictions, but I could see him perfectly happy being a farmer and country boy. It just suits.
Anyway, I"m rambling....but that's just how the day was. At 8:30 pm, sharp, we put the twins to bed, I handed Dustin the baby, and a bottle, and told him I was going for a walk. I needed it, badly.....
I didn't even take the time to get my tennis shoes, I grabbed my sandals and went. It just helps me clear my head to walk and enjoy the sounds of nature, talk to God, and first and foremost, thank him for all my blessings, even when life is hard.
There are lots of people without children to love, praying for children, longing for children. I was there, I know how it feels to wonder if you'll ever be a mother. Wonder if you'll ever have your own baby to take home from family functions and it hurts. Some would consider all our meltdowns music to their ears. That is NEVER, EVER lost on me. So, even when days are hard.....I remember what a wise lady told me today at lunch, "this too shall pass." And I take a walk, and thank God for those three little people finally asleep for the day.

First Visit to the Dentist!
Last week we had our first dental visit for the twins! I felt like it was time and I had a couple of concerns, so we made the appointment. I can't say I wasn't nervous, but it went WAY better than I had anticipated. My sister makes fun of me, but I always check credentials of everyone for everything. I just can't help it! She was mortified when I asked for credentials before I got a massage! Ha! So, a couple of weeks ago, Henry & I went by to check out the place I had researched online and do the paperwork. I have to say, I was thrilled with everything about it. The waiting area was great-they had a big t.v. with a kids' movie playing and lots of toys. The hygenists were really great with the kids and super-nice. They explained everything ahead of time and showed them their tools. They had a stuffed "nemo" that you could brush his teeth, and a big kangaroo with a big toothbrush that you could brush. They also had kids' sunglasses for them to wear so the light wouldn't bother them. Emilynn did great and loved it-of course. Carson fought it tooth and nail, I had to hold him for the girl to clean his teeth, and for the dentist to check him. The dentist was great, and we had no cavities! Yay! They got a flouride treatment, and we were on our way! They got goody bags with new brushes, floss, paste, and plastic cups with the office name on there. They also got stickers, and a token to go in the machine in the lobby with little trinkets/toys. All in all, it was a great experience, even with Carson being upset. I knew he would be, which is why I chose a children's practice. If he ever has to have work done, he'll have to be sedated, which they do. He gets upset when we brush his teeth at night, so any work is out of the question. We are good for 6 months and I won't be nervous anymore when we go-I know what to expect! :-) Another milestone met!

Our Day
Today was a good day-and in my effort to blog more....here is how it went! :-)
We got up and played and I called my mom to verify that we were going to the city tomorrow to get supplies for Hunter's b-day cake. She said she and my grandma were going today instead.....so....I said, "why don't yall just pick us up and we'll all go?" Hehehe.....there was some discussion in the background and they said they were on the way! We all piled into our SUV and headed to Hobby Lobby. I found some cute cowboy things for the cake-I can't wait to see how it turns out! We got lunch out, in a restaurant-what a treat for me! The kids were really good, it gives me hope that we can eat out a lot more with them now. They seem to do good more than bad lately, so that is a good thing. It was fun to be out all together, even if it was a touch hectic to have 3 little ones in a store. The twins were in a stroller though, so it wasn't like we had loose kids.
We also picked up some things Amanda needed for the party, and the twins insisted we take them to her tonight. So, after a break and a trip to the farm to get our milk, we went to Hunter's house and they got to play a while. Poor Amanda, Wayne, and Hunter probably thought they were going to have a nice, quiet, family evening. Boy were they in for it when we showed up! Hehehe.. For some reason this birthday party is really a big deal to the twins. I don't know if it's the first one they really realize and are looking forward to...but they talk about it a LOT. Carson has been carrying the invitation everywhere we go since it arrived a few days ago.
We came home and I let the kids stay up late. Sometimes I do that, just because they are keeping me company! Dustin was still working (more storms tonight, I wish they'd bring more rain!), and I've often wondered if I just let them stay up, what time would they go to bed on their own. Well, tonight I found out....it was 10:49 pm. Emilynn got in her bed and Carson went to sleep watching Elmo. Normally bedtime is 9 pm sharp, but they were being good and I was enjoying them. :-) We were very busy today, but I try to keep them busy when Dustin is working a lot, for several reasons. Mainly because they miss him, and want to see him so I try to keep them from thinking about it. Secondly, because if we are at home all that time without me having any help-the house would probably be torn to the ground!!! Dustin gets home and helps me so much with the kids- he lets them ride on the 4-wheeler, check the cows, feed the dogs, etc. I really look forward to him getting home and so do the kids.
We may go ride the bus tomorrow, I'm still not sure yet. We'll see, Dustin may be home and if so, we'll spend time with him. I also need to catch up on some canning and preserving-more on that later.
I'm off to start another book-I finished my book last night- The Search by Nora Roberts. It was great! I am hooked on her books, and Amanda is keeping me supplied!
We got up and played and I called my mom to verify that we were going to the city tomorrow to get supplies for Hunter's b-day cake. Things seem to be slowing down now, I hope! I feel like 4th of July is kind of the halfway point for summer, and the first part of our summer has been super-busy. I have been looking forward to the second half being much slower, and just being able to do whatever we want with no particular schedule. So far, we've done a lot......
Relay for Life, including survivor brunch and lots of meetings leading up to it- check
Dance Recital- including picture day, regular rehearsal, dress rehearsal- check
Vacation Bible School- 5 nights with all three children-check
Fundraiser for my Uncle-check
Wedding- including two days to look at bridesmaid dresses, two bridal showers, one bachelorette/lingerie shower, bridal portraits, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, hair appointment, wedding, reception-check
Wheeeeww!!! That's a lot of stuff! A lot of it I did without all or some of the children-so I've been kind of sporadic around the house. I am glad to have a chance to settle down and spend some time with them, doing some fun things. We have a few things planned-
Nicole & Eric's wedding was Saturday, and I must say-I am exhausted from that! :-) Being a matron of honor is a lot of work-but very rewarding and Nicole would do anything for me, so I didn't mind. It's fun to dress all up and I really do love weddings. Emilynn & Carson had a ball dancing at the reception, Emilynn cried when we had to leave. She said, "I want to go back in there." :-( She was doing things the big girls were doing- if they kicked their leg, she kicked her leg, if they spun around, she spun around. She really thinks she's a great dancer!!! :-) I think she kind of is. :-)
It was funny when the D.J. announced they were cutting the cake-she shot like a rocket to the cake table on the other side of the place. The wedding planner scooped her up till I got there. She was right up in the thick of it. The girl loves her sweets-what can I say? I made her go through the receiving line and tell them each "congratulations" before getting her cake, just like everyone else. She did really good-and her "congratulations" was quite the mouthful and so adorable! Carson even came out of his shell and was out on the dance floor with some moves! He is not a wild dancer, so everyone was talking about how good he was doing. Most kids kind of jump around, not him! He always runs back to me, just for reassurance I guess-gets a kiss or hug, then heads back. He does that in lots of situations- I kind of eat it up-he's my Momma's boy. Henry just kind of chilled during everything. He was the only one of my children in the church during the wedding. Well, the twins were in the church-but in the nursery. He never made a peep!
Well, it's a little late and I have a good book calling my name! That is my indulgence for making it through the weekend! My sister got me hooked on Nora Roberts' books, I will probably stay up WAY too late to finish it!!!!!
I will have more in the days to come to catch up on everything!

- a trip to the lake near our house to play in the sand/water
- a ride around town on the local bus- this is a kids' request by Emilynn & Cousin Hunter....they want to ride the bus!
- a tea party I hope-I want to let them have a "tea party" with their little Tupperware cups, pitchers, plates, etc. as they all love eating and drinking with them- yes, even the boys! Just casual with Hunter one day I think...no dressing up or anything.
- possibly a $1 movie day or two......but this is a BIG maybe and would require help from my younger sisters
- a trip to see The Fresh Beat Band- they are going to be close to us....I can't remember when but I think they'd LOVE this.....they love the "Fesh Beats" as Carson calls them!
- we are still considering going to see Thomas the Tank and Sir Tophamm Hat, they are going to be close sometime in the next few months....we canned the idea in June because we were so busy with Relay For Life.
- a train ride-maybe...this may end up being Fall but it's something everyone wants to do.
- lots and lots of pool time! Carson is a little scared now- he let go of the ladder on the 4th of July and floated away....I screamed and scared him more than anything and he was wearing his life jacket....but still he was kind of bobbing....he held his breath though, but now says "I not want to swim in Amanda's pool". Poor baby. We'll work on it. We decided against lesson this year, but will definitely do them next year.
- pictures of all 3 kids together- doing this this week

Tired
We're still here! I have not done well with daily blogging, have I? I had fully intended to do some posts, and I promise I will. For now, I am exhausted, as Dustin is working a lot with storm damage that came through Friday night. I am basically doing everything with the kids, sun up to sun down, and of course no one wants to nap, it's 100 degrees outside so we are stuck inside....and well.....we are just super busy and I'm super-tired! :-) I always look forward to 4:30 cause I know help is soon on the way in the form of Daddy, but that is much, much later if at all right now. We did go outside and get in the kiddie pool today, which was refreshing for the kids. It has to be during Henry's nap though, he can't be outside at all. We have also done a lot of visiting indoors to beat the heat. Anyway, we had our first dental visit, Henry's first night in his crib in his room, and lots of other fun stuff going on.....so stay tuned. I promise when I catch some rest, I will catch up the blogging! :-) For now, I'm off to read and sleep!
