Last Wednesday, Emilynn and I took Baby Henry for his one month check-up. He weighed in at 10 lbs. and 1/2 an ounce. He's like a ten pound sack of taters! :-) He also grew and inch in length, he is now 21 1/2 inches long. He got a great report, we go back next month for his two month check up and shots.
Emilynn was good there, I did bribe her with a sucker-but we got through it. Carson stayed with Papa doing farm stuff. I had never taken two children to the dr. by myself, so I was nervous but they did great. Afterwards, we did what any girls do when out together-we shopped! We went to the mall and I fell in love with my new favorite store-Crazy 8. I had never been in there but Emmy has some of the cutest things from there that grandmas have bought her. I loved it, we will definitely be going back for more. She got two new dresses and an outfit, and Baby Henry got some shirts. I didn't find anything for Carson but that was fine because he just likes to wear John Deere shirts anyway. Regular price stuff there is a touch high but you know me, I shopped only the sales! :-)
As far as how we're adjusting here, it's crazy, I won't lie. The twins have decided, well Emmy has decided she doesn't need a nap anymore. She keeps Carson awake most days, and it makes for a LONG day for Mommy. I have been having NO trouble falling asleep by a little after 10 pm, no matter how much caffeine I've had to keep me going during the day. I am such a night owl, so this is a huge adjustment for me. The house has been neglected a bit last week as I've tried to re-adjust my schedule and routine and get used to this new phase. We'll see how it continues. Meme and Poppy have suggested a tv in the kids room to help Emmy wind down for a nap. I'm definitely mixed on this, I haven't decided for sure yet what to do. I'd rather not start a tv in the room, but I do miss nap terribly. Of course, in a few years naps would be history anyway....so I don't know what to do. Then what if we buy a tv and dvd player and it doesn't help? Waste of money.....urrghhh....So, we haven't done anything at all. Maybe I'll figure it out this week. For now, I'm off to get ready to go to the farm and have lunch with Amanda and Juju. Dustin is off today so the kids are feeding cows and I have a tiny break. :-) Aren't you glad I decided to use part of it to update the blog??? :):):)....I know, I"ve been a blog slacker lately but I've been so tired at night. I will try to do better and update more. I realize I still haven't blogged Henry's birth story and so much more! More soon, I promise!!!!!

Refreshed
After a very LONG week, I am feeling very refreshed tonight and very energetic. After all, it is almost 2 am and I am still wide awake! Honestly, this week has been a bit rough. I can't even remember if I posted about this or not, but the twins had decided to quit napping since they got their toddler beds. And it has been HARD! I depend on those nap times to re-group, and catch up on my house stuff. I decided to just not fight it and let them stay up, which meant they were ready for bed by 7:30 or 8 pm. That was nice, but by that time, I was ready for bed too. No problem, except for Henry needing more feedings past those times. I felt very "zombie-like" with all that going on. My dad was here yesterday at nap, Carson was snoozing but Emmy was bouncing off the walls. He went in their room and had her asleep in like, 5 minutes. I thought, OKAY, I can do this! It worked for him, right? Right! WRONG! I spent 30 minutes in there today trying to get them to sleep. When they started jumping on my back yelling "horsey", I threw my hands up, told them I was going to check on the baby, and I left to re-group. Finally, they fell asleep, both of them. Amazing. I was SO THANKFUL! Henry and I slept a while in the recliner. Meme called just as I woke up and we chatted a while. I had no idea what was in the works....but at 7:00 pm I got a phone call from my Dad. He said they were on the way to our house. To pick up the twins and take them to dinner so Dustin, Henry, & I could go eat somewhere. Really? I was amazed and SO, SO, thankful! Somewhere in some of my conversations with Meme she must have realized my exhaustion and need for a break. Honestly, I LOVE my children, but I do feel so refreshed after a short break. I think it's healthy for all of us. I had not been away from them since Sunday night when Henry & I went to my Nanny's for a little while to visit and eat supper. We hurridly got them dressed and mid-way Dustin says to me, "where are they taking them?". My reply, "I don't know. Why?". :-) I never though to ask. As it turned out, they went to Ruby Tuesday. We went to Mexican and it was very, very nice. I got a free fried ice cream too! Don't tell Amanda-we are on a diet together...... My favorite waiter said he was bringing me one since I hadn't been in there in FOREVER. We used to go in there ALL THE TIME. Literally, I'm ashamed to say I've eaten there twice in one day. That's how much I love it. Now, I couldn't tell you the last time I ate IN there. We get take out about once a week, but that's it. Probably my last eat-in there was December with Dustin, before that was whenever my friend Danelle and I ate there last.
Anyway, my whole point in all this was, it was just what we needed and I didn't feel guilty because the twins got to do something really fun-eating with Meme, Poppy, and Aunt Lys. The twins think Poppy walks on water. They really do-he is a super-fun grandpa. They have one of those long pop-up tunnels and Poppy crawls through it after them-just for an example of how fun he is.
Anyway, it was also the first time I've really let someone else take my kinds somewhere in public like that. Really, it is. I am SO overprotective of them. I need to lighten up a bit because I remember how fun it was to do stuff like that with people other than your parents. Yes, I know, I am NOT cool. :-) Haha.
I have to say, we are SO BLESSED to have so much love and support from our families and friends. We had meals almost every night for the first two weeks after Henry's birth, which was amazing. I had no idea we would get so much help from everyone. I guess I thought that was just after your first baby. It really did help so much because I didn't have to worry about dinner. Papa also gets Carson every day to "help" him feed the cows and do some farm things. It is so cute because when he gets here, Carson automatically goes to the closet to get his coat, shoes, and hat. Emmy went to spend the afternoon with Meme one day this week. It's just little breaks that have helped me so much. Henry is easy! :-) I forget how much newborns sleep.
It's funny because yesterday I was going to take all 3 kids to Target because I needed to get a prescription. Dustin convinced me to wait till after dance class. I used to say that people shouldn't complain about taking one child out somewhere, one was easy compared to two. Now, I'm thinking no one should complain about taking two out- two is easy compared to three! I guess it just keeps on going! Hahaha!
Oh, and I've started "wearing" Henry! It's working out wonderfully. I had ordered a Moby Wrap before he was born. I practiced with it but never could get it tight enough to where I'd feel comfortable putting him in it. I sent it back and then pulled out two carriers I had from Amanda I think. They may have been yard sale finds, I'm not sure. Anyway, I worked with them till I figured them out. I got one tight enough to where I'd feel comfortable with him in it. I tried it out and worked beautifully. We were able to go outside Wednesday and get fresh air, the twins got to play. It was so nice, and it felt good to be able to take them outside and also take the baby. It gave me freedom, much like how I felt with my double strollers and the twins. I also have to put in a plug for the carrier that Carson STILL fits in, the Playtex Hip Hammock. It's for bigger kids, like 15 pounds and up maybe. I used it a bunch when we took the twins to the beach at 9 months, and like I said, he still fits in it. I can also use that with Carson, put Henry in the back of the stroller in his car carrier/seat, and put Emmy in front. So, I have two options for getting out of the house! Yay! I have to have freedom and be able to go out by myself with the kids. It's just because I'm so very independent.
I am rambling a lot, so I probably should try to wind down and rest. It will be morn before I know it. Luckily it's the weekend so I have help from Dustin. I will post more later. I need to try to get pics up too.....I haven't tried that since I got my new camera-which I LOVE by the way!!! It's awesome. Meme misses the camera. I'm sure she'll adjust to her brand new one soon. Then in a few years, I can get that one from her when she upgrades again. :-)

Our Day
We piled in the car today and took all 3 kids to the pediatrician today. We've been debating on whether or not the twins needed to go. They've had a slight cough off and on for the past week or so, but with all the weather changes lately, who hasn't? Anyway, Dustin was off, so we decided to go ahead and get them all checked out. Henry weighs 9 lb. even. He is still doing great. :-) Emilynn has an ear infection. Carson has fluid in one ear, so she gave him an antibiotic so we won't have to come back if it turns into infection. Honestly, I wondered if Emmy had an infection, she's only had 2 before, but both times she had no symptoms whatsoever. Same this time, other than her cough. No fever, grouchiness, feeling puny, etc. I am curious if Carson's would have even turned into infection......they are both so tough and have such great immune systems. I have to say 3 kids at the dr.'s office is crazy!!! The lady we saw was a nurse practitioner and she said, "My, yall sure are busy." Yeah, it can be nuts at our place. Dustin and I looked like octopus because we were both grabbing kids left and right in the tiny, tiny room. You know, like when you see Emmy trying to get out the door out the corner of your eye.....you hold onto the baby on the exam table with one arm, grab Emmy with the other.....etc.etc. It's fun, crazy, and chaotic, and I love it! :-) A lady in Target commented on me not having a coat on. I replied, "I have 3 kids two and under, I never wear a coat!". I'm never cold-no time for that! :-)
Well, I'm off to feed Henry (a.k.a. "wee-man" according to Dustin). More later!

Toddler Beds
We've taken the plunge-we have toddler beds! It has been a controversial issue, to say the least. Some family/friends have said we should have had them ages ago, others have said we are crazy for taking them out of the cribs. Anyway, we did this in our time. Well, the twins' time because I would have kept the cribs for sure. There room looks so bare, with just two toddler beds and a handful of toys. Sniff, sniff. I went to check them tonight after they were asleep and they look so grown up in their big boy/girl beds. Where did my babies go? I honestly wanted to cry, just because I'm amazed at how quickly two years have changed them. It's definitely a reminder to hold on to the moments, they are flying by so fast. The toddler beds came to be because both twins tore down their crib tents and were climbing in and out of their cribs, which wasn't safe. They are just growing up. Almost overnight.
Henry is doing great, he goes for a weigh-in tomorrow (Monday). He sleeps great (nighttime he goes from 12 or 12:30 to about 6 am) and is such a joy. I can't imagine not having him or what we did before he came, it seems like he's always been a part of our family. God definitely knew what he was doing better than us, when he sent us such a precious little surprise (really, a big surprise!). Carson is a very attentive big brother to Henry, helping feed, burp, and change him and giving him a million kisses a day. Emmy is possessive over him, but not as infatuated with the baby. We took him to dance Thursday night and all her friends were very excited to see him.
We all 5 went to church today too, for the first time. It was really nice to be back in church. We have such a great church family. It was interesting getting everyone ready and out the door but we made it!
Well, I'm off to feed Henry one last time and hop in bed. Actually I'm excited to watch the season premiere of Army Wives! Love that show! That's where we heard Emilynn's name and fell in love with it!
I will post more soon!!!
